Rangers acquire Cantu from Marlins

Arlington, TX (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Texas Rangers bolstered their infield,
acquiring Jorge Cantu and cash considerations from the Florida Marlins in
exchange for a pair of pitching prospects.
Cantu, 28, was in the starting lineup for Florida on Thursday, going 2-for-4
with two runs scored as the Marlins posted a 5-0 road victory over San
Francisco.
In 97 games this season, the Texas native batted .262 with 10 home runs and 54
RBI. He has 100 home runs and 458 RBI in 760 career games with Tampa Bay,
Cincinnati and Florida.
The Marlins will receive right-handers Evan Reed and Omar Poveda.
Reed, 24, was 1-1 with five saves and a 1.62 earned run average in 30 games
for Double-A Frisco. He also made one appearance with Triple-A Oklahoma City,
tossing two innings in relief.
The 22-year-old Poveda is currently on the 60-day disabled list recovering
from Tommy John surgery. The procedure was performed in March. Last season, he
went 11-5 with a 4.14 ERA in 22 starts for Frisco.

Warner hit running back Tim Hightower on a short screen for the go-ahead, game clinching score that will forever live in Cardinal infamy.
